SITI 1 International Institute is one of the most prestigious and largest center for active research in special interest tourism and related subjects of contemporary interest and concern to both developing and developed countries. The Institute aims to develop culture, and promote human aspects of tourism with focus on the enrichment of soul and spirit, support local communities, and develop Halal Tourism to its optimum potential.
One of the major objectives of the Institute is to recognize and reward excellence to the senior managers and entrepreneurs in the following four major areas:
Efficient and professional senior managers who inspire others by their example;
Leading researchers on new subjects in accordance with SITI1 objectives;
Top entrepreneurs in special interest tourism; and
Innovative projects for Halal Tourism which will take the Halal Tourism concept to new heights.
The awards would be granted every two years (biennial basis) in an international award ceremony to be held in Madrid, Spain which is a leading tourist destination in the world and is also the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The first award ceremony is proposed to be held on 08 September 2017.
A.Excellent Manager Award: This award will be granted to three best managers whose endeavor, initiatives and activities have the most positive and tangible impacts on the development of the tourism industry, and human life improvement. In addition to SITI1 Excellence in Management Certificate, the winners would receive the following cash awards:
B.Leading Research Award:
This award will be open to both institutions and individual researchers. It will be granted to three researchers or managers of reputed academic and research centers in the world. The institution or the individual researcher should have conducted research which has long-lasting impact on the global tourism industry, and has identified new tourism resources. The basic idea behind this award is to recognize and award new knowledge in the field of tourism which benefits the sector as a whole. In addition to STII 1 Excellence in Research Certificate, the winners would receive the following cash awards:
C. Special Interest Tourism Entrepreneurship Award:
This award will be granted to the three entrepreneurs from the private sector in the tourism industry who have contributed to the development and promotion of Special Interest Tourism. Their activities should have introduced new forms of tourism, benefitted local communities and domestic tourism, and opened up new destinations and activities. In addition to STII 1 Excellence in Special Interest Tourism Certificate, the winners would receive the following cash awards:
D. Halal Tourism Innovation Award:
This award will be open to countries, accommodation units, airlines and travel trade services whose activities and results focus on the development and promotion of Halal Tourism, and facilities and services related to Halal Tourism. In addition to STII 1 Excellence in Halal Tourism Certificate, the winners would receive the following cash awards:
Nominations for awards in different categories would be only subject to the condition that the nominee should have performed prominent activities during the two-year period which had a lasting impact on the tourism industry. It would be mandatory for the no minees to be a member of the following SITI1 networks:
For awards under category A: SITI1 Elite Net
For awards under category B: SITI1 Research Network
For awards under category C: Special Interest Tourism Network
For awards under category D: Halal Tourism Network.
